Collection of copies of various papers, being letters and orders from the Council, orders from the justices of the peace, etc., relating to the counties of Devon and Cornwall, and chiefly to the musters of the trained bands in the latter county, in the time of Q. Elizabeth, together with a few papers of earlier date, bulk: late 16th century

The volume probably contains the collections of Peter Edgcombe, or Edgcumbe, M. P. for Cornwall in the time of Q. Elizabeth. Many of the letters are addressed to him in conjunction with others, as a justice of the peace and deputy-lieutenant, and on a fly-leaf at the beginning, under the date of 1569, are the names of himself and his wife, five sons (including one named John, omitted in the printed accounts of the family) and four daughters.
