Hodgkin was invited to a conference of Yugoslav and Italian crystallographers held at Dubrovnik, where she gave a lecture. Hodgkin was invited to a meeting of the American Crystallographic Association at Monterey, California to receive the Fankuchen Award and to give a lecture. She then travelled to New York where she gave a lecture, as recipient of the award, at the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
