Hodgkin was invited to give two papers at the meeting. The first, 'Growing Points and Sticking Points in X-ray Analysis', was given at a Symposium on Analyses of Crystals of Biochemical Importance. The second, on 'The Structure of Molecules in Crystals', was given at a Symposium on Milestones in Physical Chemistry.
