Biographical / Historical

This was the first publication of the Central Women's Advisory Committee on behalf of the Party's Women's Organisation.

Home and Politics (first published in Sep 1920) had been going 9 months when The Popular View came out, at which time the former was re-branded as ‘The Women’s Unionist Organisation edition of “ The Popular View”’ and given a new numbering series:

  1. No. 1 (May 1921) - No.12 (April 1922)
  2. No. 13 (May 1922) – No. 24 (Apr 1922)
  3. No. 25 (May 1923) – No. 36 (Apr 1924)*
  4. No. 37 (May 1924 – No. 48 (Apr 1925)
  5. No. 49 (May 1925- No. 60 (Apri 1926)
  6. No. 61 (May 1926) – No. 72 (Apr 1927)
  7. No. 73 (May 1927- No. 84(Apr 1928)
  8. No. 85 (May 1928-No. 96 (Apr 1929)

*From June 1923 (No. 26) Home and Politics no longer refered to itself as the Women’s edition of The Popular View, but continued the numbering sequence and the format otherwise remained unchanged.

Home and Politics appears to have been wound up in April 1929, at the same time as the The Man in the Street. It is possible that both publications were combined into a new magazine, first published in 1930, Home and Empire, but little is known of this publication and no copies survive in the ConservativeParty Archive.
