Dialogue between a hermit and a young man; a poem, apparently, of the time of Q. Eliz., 18th century

Transcribed by Hearne from a MS. written "not long after the restauration," belonging to the Rev. Nathaniel Bridges, rector of Wadenhoe, Northamptonshire. Begin. "Walking by a foreste side / An auncient hermitt I espide, / White was his head, old was his face, / Paile were his lookes, obscure his place." End. "Pardon this homely tale / For he that made the same, / Hath neither lerning, welth nor witt, / And scarce can write his name."
