Bluebell Girls (Farewell at the Station) , 1954

Taken by Bert Hardy in late 1954 for an article proposed for Picture Post magazine in 1955. These photographs follow the lives of the famous Bluebell Girls of the Lido in Paris. The troupe of exotic dancers was founded in 1948 by Irish-born Margaret Kelly, who appears in a number of Hardy's photographs, and who had a preference for British dancers.
