Miscellaneous letters and papers addressed to John Gough Nichols as editor of the Gentleman's Magazine, chiefly between 1845 and 1855, valuable rather as autographs than for their literary importance.
Additions: (fols. 681-732) Letters and papers sent to J. B. and J. G. Nichols, as editors of the Gentleman's Magazine, 1818-43.
There are about two hundred and twenty writers, of whom there is a full list and index in manuscript in the Library. The letters are arranged in alphabetical order of writers' names. Among them are:

- Birch, Samuel (two), 1845 (fol. 49).

- Madden, Sir Frederick (two), 1842-5 (fol. 334).

- Repton, John Adey (three), 1848-9 (fol. 442).
