Dr Ralph Barker (1648-1708) was a chaplain.

Custodial History

The following note by Tanner is on the cover, "He [Dr. Barker] had a brother's son Mr. Barker who was partner with Mr. Hays in Norwich, and left at his house several MSS., some of which coming into the hands of Mr. Pickering, he gave me this, and an 8° volume of Abp. Tillotson's sermons in short hand."]

At the time descriptions were made for the Summary catalogue of western manuscripts, vol. iii, this MS. was among the Rawlinson MSS.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

By his will Tanner's manuscripts passed to the Library, and were received in 1736, about three months after his death.
