Some Observations on Mr Wise's Letter to Dr Mead concerning the White Horse in Berkshire
'Some Observations on Mr Wise's Letter to Dr Mead concerning the White Horse in Berkshire; in a letter to Browne Willis Esqr. By G. N. [altered to 'George North AB... mdccxl ': the full name is at p. 97 and the date May 5, 1740. At p. 131 is a copy of a letter from the same ('G.N.') to 'Mr Kettle', dated Aug. 1, 1740, on a ring found at Verulam.
These appear to be contemporary copies by the author, kept for his own use and corrected. The former was written before the attack on Wise was issued in 1741, but it is curious that, whereas the present work tries to show that Wise was mistaken, North's Answer to a Scandalous libel (1741) was a defence of Wise's work.
