'The Original of the [law] termes, by sir Henry Spelman, knight, A.D. 1614' (fol. iv), preceded by 'The occasion of this discourse. About 42 yeares sithenne' (fol. 1). Text beg. 'As our lawe bookes have nothing to my knowledg' (fol. 3).

The Society of Antiquaries, for whom this MS. was prepared in 1614, was suppressed before it was read, so that it was not published till 1684. At fol. 31 has been inserted a transcript of a 13th-cent. writ, made by Dugdale in 1633.
