Mendelssohn Bartholdy before the volume was presented, with ascriptions in his hand; with contributions from himself, family and friends, before and after it was presented, 27 Jun 1836 (fol. 109v) - 11 May 1848 (fol. 183).

Binding: dark red morocco, tooled and ornamented with gilt and with red and green inlay. Gilt edges. Originally 68 single sheets of various paper, some tinted, some ruled with 10 staves, plus end-papers. Many of the items were mounted on existing leaves or pasted to stubs. Sewn in 10 gatherings. Total i + 189 leaves.
