The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by customer, and runs from 1924 to 1942 (mainly 1927-39). Although the letters are mainly about buying and selling books, some of the correspondence develops into discussion of bibliographical and literary topics; carbon copies of out-letters are included. The principal correspondents include John F. Fulton, Sir Ambrose Heal, Philip Hofer, W.M. Ivins, Wilmarth S. Lewis, J.P.R. Lyell, Dorothy L. Sayers and George Sherburn.
