Letters from a concertina file (N-Y and miscellaneous), [1896?]-1956
Letters originally housed in a cardboard 'Xpania' concertina file with alphabetical sections (the concertina file can be found under shelfmark MS. 23701/16). The letters are addressed to Margaret Newbolt (née Duckworth) unless otherwise stated.
Margaret primarily filed the letters by surname but there are some exceptions. For example, the letters from Verena Holland are under 'V' rather than 'H'.
Comprises letters from:
- Emily Newbolt, about her her son's (Henry Newbolt) knighthood, 1915
- Lilias Noble, 1915, about the death of her father, Sir Andrew Noble. With a further letter from Henry Newbolt to Lilias on the character of John Meade Faulkner and his own memoir, 1932 (copy in Margaret Newbolt's handwriting?)
- B.G. Harrison about obtaining a photograph of Netherhampton House, 1918. He was a descendent of former owners, the Gauntlett/Gauntlet family. With biographical notes about the Gauntlett/Gauntlet family
