Paul Scofield. Leading British actor of films, TV and stage, photographed in 1948. Born in 1922; joined Croydon Repertory Company in 1939. Toured with ENSA 1941-1945. Member of the Royal Shakespeare Company since 1962, his best-known plays include: "Ring Around The Moon", "Time Remembered", "Hamlet" (in Moscow), "A Man For All Seasons", and "The Hotel in Amsterdam".
