Correspondence and memoranda about nursing appointments and the standardisation of nurses pay and leave in Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, St. Kitts (St. Christopher), Nevis, Montserrat and the Virgin Islands. Correspondence is chiefly with the Colonial Office (Sir G. Grindle, H. J. Read, L. B. Freeston, S. M. Campbell, H. Beckett, F. R. Fairclough, L. J. Brearley, W. D. Greavey, D. Smith) but also includes (single) letters from the General Nursing Council for England and Wales, J. A. Burdon (Administrator of St Kitts and Nevis) and his wife K. Burdon. There are also copy despatches from governors (Sir Eustace Fiennes, Sir G. J. Lethem, Sir Grattan Bushe) and from the administrator of Dominica (E. C. Eliot).

The file also includes:

(fols. 15-21) memorandum on leave for nursing staff, with covering letter from the Colonial Office saying that it summarises "the replies received from the Governors of the West Indian Colonies and of the Falkland Islands to the proposals put to them for improving the leave of absence privileges granted to nurses", 24 Jun. 1921
