Biographical / Historical
Francis William Albert Lehfeldt (1820-1876), son of Carl Robert Lehfeldt who was a brother of Betty Bamberg (from whom most Lehfeldts recorded in this archive are descended), emigrated to England in 1853. He had three sons from his first marriage with Johanna Elise Emily Essmann: Martin Alexander Charles Lehfeldt (1854-?), Albert Lehfeldt (1855-1856) and Frederick Charles Emil Lehfeldt (1857-1925, he later changed his name to Leyfield). F.W.A. Lehfeldt's sons from his second marriage with the pianist Maria Jane Browne (1821-1897) were Thomas Albert Lehfeldt (1859-1939) and Robert Alfred Lehfeldt (1868-1927). Sylvia Edith Lehfeldt (1896-1984) and Winifred Mary 'Mollie' Lehfeldt (1900-1991) were the daughters of Thomas Albert Lehfeldt and Mary Lehfeldt née Harrison (1862-1949).
Kate Lefeld (née Spanier, 1891-1974) married Moritz Lehfeldt, a descendant from another branch of the Lehfeldt family. They emigrated to London in the early 20th century and later changed their name to Lefeld.
