Notes, correspondence and photographs relating to epitaphs of ancestors in Prague, Vienna and Berlin, including:

  1. Folder 1: 'Grabinschriften von Vorfahren und Verwandten in Prag 15.-18.Jhdt.' - epitaphs of ancestors and relatives in Prague 15th-18th century, such as the Tristl, Fanta and Spira families. Includes photos of tombstones, translations of epitaphs in Hebrew, literature on Jewish cemeteries in Prague. See also plaster casts from grave stones in MS. Braun 220.
  2. Folder 2: 'Grabinschriften von Vorfahren und Verwandten in Wien 1540(?)-1670' - epitaphs of ancestors and relatives in Vienna of 16th and 17th century, such as Fraenkel/ Fränkel, Theomin, Chalfan, Liberman, Berech families. Includes translations of epitaphs in Hebrew, and literature on Jewish families and cemeteries in Vienna.
  3. Folder 3: 'Grabinschriften von Vorfahren und Verwandten in Berlin' - epitaphs of ancestors and relatives in Berlin, such as the Braun, Friedmann, Veit, Jacoby, Lehfeldt families. Includes photos of tombstones, translations of epitaphs in Hebrew and correspondence regarding the grave of Gertrud Friedmann-Braun at the Berlin Stahnsdorf cemetery.
  4. Folder 4: Papers relating to the 'Stolpersteine' or 'Stumbling Stones' which have been laid in memory of the family's principal Holocaust victims. a) 'Stolpersteine zur Erinnerung an Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, geb. Lehfeldt, Hildegard Braun, Gerhard Braun und Johannes Braun, verlegt in der Nürnberger Strasse, Berlin, vor Nr. 66 am 8. Mai 2019', includes a report of the laying of 'stumbling stones' in memory of these members of the Braun family who were victims of Nazism, an account of their lives and fate with some explanatory notes and photographs (10pp); b) 'Stolpersteine in memory of Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, née Lehfeldt, Hildegard Braun, Gerhard Braun and Johannes Braun, laid at Nürnberger Strasse 66, Berlin 8 May 2019', an English language version of item a; c) Short biographies of Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, née Lehfeldt, Hildegard Braun, Gerhard Braun and Johannes Braun taken from the official Stolpersteine Berlin website; d) Photocopies of birth certificates of Hildegard, Gerhard, Konrad and Johannes Braun copied from the official records as part of the researches relating to the proposal to lay Stolpersteine for members of the Braun family.
