Supporting documentation, notes, correspondence and background information related to Konrad Braun's compensation claims.

  1. Folder 1: 'Entschädigungs- u. Rückerstattungs-Verfahren. Gesetzestexte, Formulare.' – Forms and legal texts ('Gesetz- und Verordnungsblatt für Berlin', 'Bundesgesetzblatt') relating to compensation claim proceedings, some with notes by Konrad Braun, 1949-1957.
  2. Folder 2: 'Erbengemeinschafts-Konto Berliner Bank A.G.' - Notes, correspondence and bank statements relating to compensation payments into Konrad Braun's and Anneliese Braun's joint account at Berliner Bank A.G., 1957-1966.
  3. Folder 3: 'Liste über erledigte Verfahren und Zahlen. Fragebogen. Anwaltshonorare. Befriedigungsverf. 10786, 24270, 24281, 10788' – Notes and correspondence about completed proceedings, summaries of payments received, also on behalf of Anneliese Braun, and lists of legal fees and other expenses paid, 1953-1965. Also includes newspaper cuttings in English relating to settlement of compensation claims in Germany, 1952-1963.
  4. Folder 4: 'Deutsche Steuerakten. Korrespondenz mit Finanzamt bis 1939' – Tax records and correspondence with Berlin tax office, 1934-1939. Includes tax returns, tax assessments and tax payment receipts for church tax ('Kirchensteuer'), property tax ('Vermögenssteuer'), income tax ('Einkommenssteuer'), residential tax ('Bürgersteuer'). Also includes forms and notes relating to the register of property of Jews ('Verzeichnis über das Vermögen von Juden') from 1938, and some lists and notes relating to Gerhard Braun's tax payments, 1937-1938.
  5. Folder 5: 'Unterlagen für Schadensersatz-Ansprüche' – Supporting documents for compensation claims, including Josephine Heermann's affirmation in lieu of oath about the fate of Johannes Braun, Gertrud Friedmann-Braun and Hildegard Braun, 1949; copies of documents proving the Brauns' financial circumstances and rights to salary and pensions; copies of documents relating to the administration of Felix Friedmann-Braun's estate; powers of attorney. Also includes a letter from Hildegard Braun about dissolving Konrad Braun's Berlin household and managing his financial matters in Germany after his emigration to England, 1939.
  6. Folder 6: 'Personenstandsurkunden, Todeserklärungen, Erbscheins-Verfahren' – Documents and correspondence relating to declaration of death for Johannes Braun and Hildegard Braun; reissue of death certificate for Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, birth certificate for Johannes Braun, marriage certificate for Felix Friedmann and Gertrud Friedmann née Lehfeldt; certificates of inheritance for the heirs of Johannes Braun, Gertrud Braun, Hildegard Friedmann-Braun and Gerhard Braun, 1946-1956. Also includes copy of Gerhard Braun's last will and testament, 1943.

Folder 7: 'Korrespondenz mit Bonn' - Correspondence with West German authorities relating to offers for posts as government official for Konrad Braun (head of division at Ministry of Justice or judge at a federal court, 1950), lawyer at Deutsche Beratungsstelle für Wertpapierbereinigung (Securities Settlement Advisory Agency of the German Federal Republic), 1952.
