To Compton from Archbp. Paterson, begging him (since the Queen's intended bounty to the clergy has been hindered) to endeavour to procure for Mr. Pitcarne, dean of Orkney, (now 70 years old,) an allowance from the rents of that bishopric of 600 marks Scots or £33 6s. 8d. sterl., for which Pitcarne will willingly act as collector of the whole; Edinb., 15 May 1707
