Rawlinson C: History, Theology, 11th-18th century
A miscellaneous collection of volumes, chiefly on the subjects of law, history and theology. The volumes include:
- Papers of Henry de Bracton relating to the law and constitution of England, 13th-14th century;
- Papers of John Robinson, Bishop of Bristol, and afterwards of London, chiefly relating to the negotiations for the Treaty of Utrecht, 18th century;
- Manuscripts of John Lewis, Minister of Margate, mainly relating to the rise of Anabaptism in England, 18th century;
- Statutes of England, 14th century;
- Theological Adversaria of [Peter Gunning, D.D., Bishop of Chichester], in thirteen volumes (chiefly in Latin), 17th century;
- A vindication of the validity of Nonconformist ordinations, in reply to the Tentamen Novum and Tentamen Novum Continuatum published by Thomas Gipps, rector of Bury, Lancashire, in 1698-1699, in his controversy with James Owen of Shrewsbury. Apparently a copy prepared for the press, 18th century.
The manuscripts are mainly English, Latin and French, but also include some other European languages.
