The first part of this collection, which describes the contents of the four treasuries, appears to correspond with a register compiled by Arthur Agard (ob. 1615), deputy chamberlain of the exchequer, which is described by Wood, Ath. Oxon. ed. Bliss, ii. 428, and Nicolson, Historical Libraries, in folio. Lond. 1736, p. 208. That Agard was not, however, the compiler or writer of this MS. is evident from a passage at fol. 20b, which describes "a booke out of Domesday made by Mr. Arthur Agard, there late officer." The names of two other officers of the records are mentioned at fol. 2, viz. "John Bingley" and "Gidiock Warder."

The second and third parts of the collection are thus described:

  1. (fol. 21) "A catalogue of the names of such bookes and calenders as are made of the records remayninge in the office of the Tower of London, in anno Domini 1592."
  2. (fol. 22) "A catalogue of the bookes in the chest at Westminster in the office of the king's remembrancer, collected the 1. of November, 1616."
