On a fly-leaf at the beginning (which bears the title of A booke of the records of Duresme) are the initials T. D.

"A little treatise compendiouslie declaringe the first [origin] and erection of the episcopall sea of Durham, instituted at Holy Iland, and from thence remooued to Chester, and afterwards transferred to Durham and there established, with the occasions of remoouing the same sea, and order of succession of all the bishopes, from saint Aidaine first bishope vntill Cuthber (sic) Tunstall late bishop thereof. Summarylie comprisinge such memorable actes and workes of charitie as sundrie of them in there tymes respectively performed with sundrie other thinges worthie of remembrance, collected out of the auncient and late recordes of the cathedrall church of Durham, and for the most part translated forth of Latine into English, the first day of August, anno Domini 1603," etc.

At the end of this copy is added a memorandum of dates connected with the history of the church, beginning, "memorandum, that in this present yeare of our Lord God 1626," etc.
