The first series of notes (written by the same hand as a great part of the volume) is headed "Ex chartis meis de Shepreth." Qu., are these, therefore, collections by John Layer, lord of the manor of Shepreth, temp. Car. I? See Harl. MS. 6768, and Lyson's Cambridgeshire, p. 77.
