Commonplace book written at various dates, 18th cent.
Contains mainly quotations from classical authors, especially Horace, and historical writers, especially Sir Walter Raleigh and Clarendon. The headings are grouped under letters of the alphabet but the letters are not in alphabetical order; at p.xi is an index of them. Pp. 311-30 contain a copy of orders relating to procedure in the House of Lords 'copied from a written Book of them deliver'd by the Clerks of ye House to a Noble Peer in May 1714' with p. 309b a subject index. On p. 283 is the date 'now.1734' and on p. 339 'now.1735'.
