The manors to which the volume chiefly relates are those of Bedgebury and Combwell, in the parish of Goudhurst, Kent, and Hasleton, etc. in Glouc.; and the deeds which are transcribed extend from 1535 to 1616.

Various notes are interspersed, dated 1581–1617, in the handwriting of sir Anthony Colepeper; amongst which the following is subjoined to the title copied above: "This fayer hande above writen was by on Nowell, servante to Mr. T. Colepeper; and that secretary hand that is next after his was writen by Mathew Penny, servante to sir Alexander Colepeper, his sonne. The other chansery hande in the other partes of this boke towardes the ende was writen by Tho. Dickes, once servante to the aboufe written T. Colepeper, and after of Sir Alexander Co. his sonne. Teste, Antho. Colepeper, sonne of the saide Sir Alexander."
