The writer and collector, probably one of Pepys' admiralty clerks, describes vol. 17 in his list as being a MS. "given me by Mr. Pepyes, relateing to the navy in Q. Elizab. time, 1568, by one James Humphrys;" alludes at p. 113 to his cousin Chas. Sergison, and at p. 127 to his French voyage; and at p. 173 has a notice of a letter written by himself to the Navy Board relative to the demands of the commissioners of accounts, 16 Feb 1668.
