- State Papers of John Thurloe, secretary of state to Oliver and Richard Cromwell, 1638-1660 (73 volumes);
- Papers relating to Parliament, 17th-18th century;
- Papers of Samuel Pepys, secretary to the Admiralty, 17th century (26 volumes);
- Papers relating to the Navy, 16th-17th century;
The items from the Thurloe Papers listed in this catalogue are those not printed in Birch's Collection of the State Papers of John Thurloe (see Bibliography for full reference.) In the case of foreign letters and papers, of which copies of the original text as well as translations are found in these volumes, the latter only are often printed in Birch's Collection. Many of the papers contained in the first twelve volumes are also printed in vol. xx. of Rymer's Fœdera, pp. 546–802.
