Biographical / Historical

The Oxford Society was an independent association founded in 1932 as an organization of former and present members of the University of Oxford with the aim of promoting the interests of the University as well as keeping its members in touch with each other and the University. In 2004 the Oxford Society, together with the Helmore Fund, formed the Oxford University Society and as such became Oxford University's official alumni organization.

The president of the Oxford Society was the University of Oxford Chancellor ex officio (Roy Jenkins, 1987-2003).
