Wordsworth enquires after a house in the neighbourhood of Penny Bridge [Ulverston], lately occupied by Miss Benson [died 1809].
Wordsworth's signature has been cut out and pasted onto the text of the letter. Two later annotations read: 'A letter of Wordsworth the poet. His signature cut off & put in my birthday book, H.E.D.' and 'Replaced by G.F.H.D., 1938'.
