Abstract
Letters from William Wordsworth and his circle, 1810-1850.
Biographical / Historical
For a biography of William Wordsworth, see Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
Arrangement
Apart from a late acquisition of a letter from Wordsworth to Samuel Butler, Hill's arrangement of the letters has been retained. Letters to and from Wordsworth are in date order, followed by letters from Dorothy Wordsworth, Samuel Rogers, and Sarah Coleridge. Hill's conjectural datings are reproduced in square brackets.
Custodial History
Collected by Professor Alan G. Hill from various manuscript dealers between 1979 and 2015.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Bequeathed to the Bodleian Libraries by Professor Alan G. Hill, 2015.
Separated Materials
A printed book from the collection of the Ambleside Book Society, R.A. Wilmott, Conversations at Cambridge (1836), was transferred to Rare Books (shelfmark: Vet. A7 e. 920). The book contains a record of withdrawals by members of the Wordsworth circle in 1836.
