Miscellaneous papers collected by Dr. Robert Shippen: containing Poetical pieces, epitaphs, etc.:
- P. 3. 'Masque of Paris & the 3 Goddessess. Being the words to be set for the prize for Music', at Oxford (?), beg. 'Mercury. From high Olympus'
- P. 17. 'The Spleen. By Mr. Finch', a poem, beg. 'What art thou, Spleen'
- P. 149. 'The following lines were wrote in Gold Letters upon the skreen at All Souls Chappell [erected by bp. Goldwell], wh was pulled down...', beg. 'Cantia clara quidem'
- P. 167. 'Inscription upon the bason & ewer, wch Dr Sacheverell presented to the Ld Keeper [Simon Harcourt], 1710'
- Most of the epitaphs are copies, but it would seem that Dr. Shippefi himself composed some, such as sir William Gifford's in St. Michael's church at Oxford, 1724 (p. 125)
