A defence by Uthredus de Boldon, monk of Durham, of various articles by him denounced as heresy by the Franciscans in the 14th century. Unfortunately the roll is much damaged by the use of galls and by damp, so that the greater part is almost illegible. It seems that another roll is wanting, as the present one begins in the middle of a sentence. Tanner, in his Bibliotheca Britannko-Hibernica (1748), quotes the roll as 'Contra querelas Fratrum, lib. i " Pericula in falsis fratribus." MS. in museo Ashmol. inter rptulos Ant. Wood.'

Halfway down the recto is 'Incipiunt quidam isti falsi fratres suam mendacem cedulam istam [illegible] Jsti, inquiunt, sunt articuli quos dominus Vthredus monachus Dunolmensis sacre thcologie professor in vniuersitate Oxoniensi pro veris tenuit', then follow the 28 articles and answers to them, etc. A note indicates that in 1760 attention was given to this MS., probably by the application of galls.
