The order of the office of the earl marshall of England used by Gilbert de Stragall [Strigull] in the time of Henry II. Begins, "The manner, forme, and usage of Gilbert de Strogell, marshall of England." With the exception of a few slight verbal differences, this is the same treatise as that at fol. 20, but with a summary of the contents prefixed.

The statutes, ordinances, and customes to be holden in the hoste, ordained by Richard II, John duke of Lancaster, steward of England, etc. at Duresme 17 Jun 1386.

The manner how K. Edw. VI. received the order of St. Michael, sent from the French king Henry II. Begins, "Item on the xvith day of Jul the French ambassador".

The proceedings and judgment pronounced against sir Ralph Graye, 28 May 1464. Begins, "The king lay in the palace of Yorke and kept his estate solemnly." Ends, "And thou shalt have thine head smitten off: thy body to be buried in the Fryers: the head where the kings pleasure shall be."

At the end of this treatise is annexed the following letter, "Sir, I have satisfied your request in copying the premisses: but I take the first part more ambitious than true; it hath reference to the government of Normandy, whereof I can say nothing, nor to Mr. Recorders booke, the which I never saw, nor know what credit or authority it beareth: I know no jurisdiction but in, of, from, and under her majesty. The ceremony, manner, and ordering of combates to be performed within lists. Begins, "First the quarrells and bills of the appellant and defendant should be pleaded." Ends, "On paine of imprisonment, and his body and goods at the kings will."

Warrant for payment of dyetts to the officers of armes attending the progress: dated the last day of May anno 1553. (transcript.)

A remembrance of sir William Dethicks alias garter king of arms his abuses, since the time he was Yorke-herauld to this present anno. Begins, "William Dethicke when he was Yorke herauld gaue armes by patents under his hand and seale."

The names of the noblemen and others which attended Henry VII. at Christmas at Richmond, the 23d year of his reign, and gave rewards to the officers of armes.
