'1624. A Game at Chesse. By Tho. Middleton': with a dedicatory poem to 'William Hammond' signed 'T. M.', which may be autograph. This is a dramatic play on the delicate subject of the Spanish Match, for writing which Middleton got into serious trouble. This MS. appears to represent a draft composed before there was any intention of printing or playing it, and differs considerably from the printed texts.
