An illustrated Album Amicorum of Paul van Dale, written in about A.D. 1569-1578

Consisting of mounted paintings, chiefly of Italian magnates, lay and ecclesiastical, types of Italian ladies, etc., done to the order of van Dale's friends, chiefly at Rome or Bologna: the friends usually write their names and the date (1569-78), with motto. Fols. 1-3 are occupied by paintings of a young man, 'ætatis suæ 17', '... 18', '... 19', but all dated 1569: his arms are, Quarterly 1st and 4th argent an eagle rising sable on a hillock vert, 2nd and 3rd azure four bars…
