La Coche ou le Débat de l'Amour, a French romance by Marguerite d'Angoulême or de Valois, queen of Navarre (d. 1549), written in about the middle of the 16th cent.
With no title or authorship in the MS.: beg. 'Ayant perdu de l'aueugle vincueur.'. There are eleven miniatures illustrating the poem, arid one elaborate coat of arms, with borders, etc., The arms, representing the person for whom the book was written, are, according to the 1840 catalogue: quarterly 1. quarterly 1 & 4 Castile, 2 & 3 Leon, for de Foix (?): 2. La Tour d'Auvergne; 3. Clermont Lodève; 4. Turenne. The motto 'Plus vous que moy' occurs on fols. 8, 14v, 19.…
