A short history of France to about 1204, translated into French from Latin by order of Alphonse, count of Poitiers, to whom the work is dedicated, written perhaps in the last quarter of the 13th cent. in England (?)

After the translator's prologue there is a table of the chapters of the three books: the text beg. 'Apres la mort de Josue': ends, some leaves being lost, in the 17th chapter of the 3rd book, at 'sages hom & de grant pooir.'. At fols. 30v, 59v some arms of the 'Swale' family are drawn with a lead stylus: perhaps contemporary with the MS. There is also the armorial bookplate of Algernon Capell earl of Essex, dated 1701.
