Copies of documents relating to Whalley abbey in Lancashire and Stanlaw abbey in Cheshire (which was removed to Whalley in 1296), chiefly copied from the Chartulary of Whalley (cf. p. 185), probably by Roger Downes in about 1590 (see pp. 120, 202). The entire Chartulary has been printed by the Chetham Society. The rev. John Watson (d. 1783) added some more copies of deeds and some notes in about 1759.
