Spiral notebook inscribed 'Rex Richards'. In use in 1966 during visit to USA. Notebook records conversations with scientists in America including E. Poindexter, M. Cohn, and R. Freeman, and the design of the first superconducting magnet. It was used later for a draft on biological applications of NMR 'probably for the last conference on spectroscopy organised by the Institute of Petroleum', held in Durham 1976.
