Four instrumental parts: violin 1, fols. 2v-13; violin 2, fols. 16v-27, dated 15 Nov 1677; violetta, fols. 30v-41, dated 20 Nov 1677; bass, fols. 44v-55, dated 13 Jan 1678. Possibly owned by James Sherard.

Custodial History

This item is part of the Music School collection of printed and manuscript music, which was originally bequeathed to the University of Oxford by William Heather (c 1563-1627), and gradually added to until the end of the 18th century.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection was transferred to the Bodleian in 1885.

Physical Facet

iii + 59 leaves. Each instrumental part occupies one quire, bound in grey board; title in ink. Watermark, cross, SC. Ruling, 10 5-lined staves, without marginal ruling. Bass numbered '4' and '3', top and bottom of spine.
