Abstract
Party publications: Conservative Party pamphlets, newsletters and campaign literature produced as part of local government election campaigns, 1888-2009.
Biographical / Historical
In addition to working files and papers, the Conservative Party Archive (CPA) also includes an extensive range of non-manuscript material comprising printed and published material by and about the Conservative Party.
This includes this collection of Conservative Party pamphlets, newsletters and campaign literature produced for local government election campaigns, from 1888 to 2009. Publications created for local elections range from practical guides on how to conduct county council elections and artwork produced by Conservative Central Office for District Elections, to manifestos produced for mayoralty elections.

Custodial History
The archive of the Conservative Party was established as a source for academic study at the Bodleian Library in 1978 by an agreement made between the University of Oxford and the Conservative Party, and brought together surviving historic papers of the Party previously held in various locations including Newcastle University Library and the former Conservative Central Office in Smith Square, London. Since 1996, ownership of the archive has been vested in the Conservative Party Archive Trust. The archive includes records from all three areas of Party organisation: parliamentary, voluntary and professional.
