Companion volume to MS. Mus. Sch. f. 573, probably also of Dutch origin. Contains 37 short pieces for bass viol, mainly copied by the third hand (from MS. Mus. Sch. f. 574), and containing two of the same pieces by P. Hacquart. 'Lartigue' dedicated two minuets to Mme. Joanna Hacquart on the last leaf.
Ascribed music is as follows:
1 (p. 6) 'C.S.' [Christopher Simpson]. Preludium in D major [VdGS 1].
2 (pp. 7-9) 'P.H.' [Philip Hacquart]. Allemande, etc., in D major [VdGS 9-12]. [Also in MS. Mus. Sch. f. 573, fol. XII].
3 (pp. 16-19) [Nicolas Hotman]. 'Suitte de Mons. Otteman', in F major [VdGS 31-34].
4 (pp. 20-23) Phi[lip] Hacquart. Allemande, etc., in D minor [VdGS 1-4]. [Also in MS. Mus. Sch. f. 573, fol. VIII].
5 (pp. 26-29) 'J.S.' 2 Preludes, Allemande and Courant in D minor, and a Sarabande in A minor. Copied by a different hand.
6 (p. 76) 'Lartigue'. 2 'Menuet[s], dedié à mademoiselle Joanna Hacquart'.
The other contents are unascribed airs and fantasias.

Custodial History
This item is part of the Music School collection of printed and manuscript music, which was originally bequeathed to the University of Oxford by William Heather (c 1563-1627), and gradually added to until the end of the 18th century.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection was transferred to the Bodleian in 1885.
Physical Facet
One quire incomplete at both ends. Watermark resembles Heawood 3144. Ruling, 6 5-lined staves to a page, no marginal ruling. Vellum binding, '2E S I (?)' formerly on spine (see inside front cover).
