Biographical / Historical
The Oxford and District Subscription Concerts Society aimed to promote and develop public education in and appreciation of the presentation of public concerts and recitals. The Oxford Subscription Concerts was founded in 1920 under the Chairmanship of Sir Hugh Allen, the then Heather Professor of Music at the University of Oxford and the Director of the Royal College of Music in London.
