Two songs, holograph, by Franz Peter Schubert
Two songs, holograph, by Franz Peter Schubert (0. E. Deutsch, Franz Schubert Thematisches Verzeichnis (Schubert. Neue Ausgabe siimtlicher Werke, viii/I, 1978), 876 and 874), the second incomplete, c. Jan 1826. The first was used by the printer for Diabelli's collection, Nachgelassene musikalische Dichtungen, 30 (1838) no. 1.
On fol.2 a later hand, after ca. 1850, wrote references to two other songs apparently then in the possession of Diabelli: 'Leiden der Trennung', of which a copy was 'No. 36 Abth. VIII', 'Autograph nicht vorhanden'; and 'Der Leidende. Text von Holty... Nachl. 50 [ca. 1850] no. 2 [publisher's] no. 9000. Das Autograph vide no. 40 Abth. II'.
- 'Ich bin von aller Ruh geschieden', headed 'Im anner 1817. Schulze'. The manuscript was prepared for the printer by the addition to Schubert's heading, before 'Schulze', of the words 'Tiefes Lied von...'. The publisher's number 5034 is on the right; '43', lower left-hand; '30', lower right-hand. Another hand wrote 'Nachlass 30/1'. Deutsch 876. Fols. 2-3.
- '(Blume) O Quell was Stromst du rasch and wild'. 18 bars only of the unfinished draft. '44', lower lefthand. Pencil note top right: '8 Jan. 1814. Ernst Schulze's Poet. Tagebuch' (?). Deutsch 874. Fo1.3v.
