Complete child's unpublished 'mock-up' of historical adventure novel set in Spanish colonial era Peru, written 'by C.M. Carter at the Den. West Runton Norfolk' and 'Finished June 25th 1922 at St. Margarets W. Runton Norfolk'.
Written in cursive hand, includes several 'full page' watercolour illustrations. Pasteboard front and back covers, with watercolour paintings on cover and spine, pages numbered 1-422 and bound with black thread.

Collected at an unknown date by either the collector and picture restorer Bryan Hall, or his father Rev. William Hall, sometime Vicar of Barton Turf and Smallburgh in Norfolk. Sold as part of the The Contents of the Old Rectory, Banningham, Norfolk auction by Bonhams, 22-24 March 2004.

Purchased by the Bodleian Library with the support of the Friends of the Bodleian from Christian White, Modern First Editions [subsequently Christian White Rare Books], September 2019.
