'Semiramide. Opera seria' by Gioachino Rossini. In two acts. Libretto by Gaetano Rossi after Voltaire. Full score, in abbreviated form (repeated orchestral passages not written out), divided into four volumes.
Composite score, made from two separate Italian(?) copyists' manuscripts, c 1830? The first (opening of Act 1, paginated 1-155) is continued by the second (remainder of Act 1, paginated 143-748, and the whole of Act 2). Six bars of music (Act 1 no. 1, bars 338-343) are in fact missing where the manuscripts join (although this is not obvious). The first copyist's pages are guarded onto stubbs, those of the second are inlaid.
