'Another passing Year is flown' [Bartlett/Bruce 158]. Ode composed for the 14th birthday of George III (Sunday 24 May 1752) before the death of his father. See London Magazine, 1752, p. 241. Performed at Ranelagh (fol. 41).

Autograph full score, marked 'No. 2' by Boyce. Fols. 2-32. Upright folio, usually bifolia. Watermark 'Pro Patria', countermark crowned 'G.R.'. Ruled with 12 staves, no marginal ruling.

Copyist's vocal parts, Mrs. Storer, singer (fols. 35-39) and Mr. Beard, singer (fols. 41-47). Large oblong quarto. Watermark 'Bend and Lily, LVG', countermark 'IV'. Ruled with 10 staves, no marginal ruling.

Orchestral parts, written out by copyist, with some annotation by Boyce. 1st and 2nd oboe, 1st and 2nd horns, trumpet; violins: first principal, 2 ripieni, second principal, 2 ripieni, tenor; 4 bass, organ. Fols. 50-152. Large upright quarto. Paper as 2 above. Ruled with 12 staves, no marginal ruling.

Custodial History

This item is part of the Music School collection of printed and manuscript music, which was originally bequeathed to the University of Oxford by William Heather (c 1563-1627), and gradually added to until the end of the 18th century.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection was transferred to the Bodleian in 1885.
