Letter from Cipriani Potter to William Sterndale Bennett
A letter to William Sterndale Bennett (21 May 1858) from his teacher and Head of the Royal Academy of Music, Cipriani Potter, in which Potter is tasked with conveying 'verbatim' the opinion of the Earl of Westmorland in relation to his choice of Michael Costa over Bennett for an important RAM benefit concert which caused much ill feeling.
