Lonsdale; Sir Benjamin Brodie (either the surgeon (1783-1862) or his chemist son (1817-1880)); Edward Venables-Vernon-Harcourt (1757-1847, Archbishop of York); William Howitt (1792-1879), the writer and his wife Mary Howitt (1799-1888), the author and poet; Dinah Maria Craik (1826-1887), the novelist; and Hesba Stretton (1832-1911), the children’s author.
