Latin sacred music. English mid-18th-cent. copies in 4 different hands, of which the last (items o-r) is that of Thomas Bever (1725-1791). The other hands are distibuted as follows: Hand A, item a; Hand B, items b-l; Hand C, items m-n.
Items b-j are from Palestrina's Offertoria for 5 voices (1593), items k-l from his 5th book of five-part motets (1584)], and items o-r are from Palestrina's 1st book of 4-part motets (1563).

Physical Facet
(186-214 blank); 8-10 staves to a page. Watermarks: fleur-de-lis above shield with LVG below (pp. 1-166); fleur-de-lis above shield with GR below (pp. 167-214). The volume seems to have have originally been at least three separate manuscripts (pp. 1-80, 81-144, 145-214), but it was one volume by the time Bever’s bookplate was pasted on the upper pastedown. Binding: half calf with marbled paper covered boards (spine renewed).
